Orgatec 2018 “Rethinking work, culture @ work”

A larger offer of infrastructure, architecture and office and office space. The only international exhibition of innovation and trends that presents the entire world of work, addresses current issues and which, under the general theme “Rethinking Work”, proposes creative solutions to meet the requirements of tomorrow’s work environment in different fields – layout, floors, acoustics and lighting, media techniques and information technologies.

On Wednesday April 25, 2018, this is what we heard during the presentation of the next Orgatec fair by Katharina C. Hamma, Chief Operating Officer, Koelnmesse GmbH, at a European press conference in Amsterdam. At ‘A’DAM Tower, * symbolizing one of the strong themes of ORGATEC 2018 which “will give more space to architecture, that is why the offer that targets architects, designers, engineers and specifiers in the field of building will be even more important … we amplify the activities in terms of infrastructure, architecture and development of offices and commercial spaces.

This place also dedicated the new cooperation with architectureworld and the Deutscher Hoteltag. Both events will take place in 2018 as part of ORGATEC. For 15 years, architectureworld has distinguished itself by its demanding congress programs for architects, designers, engineers and specifiers in the building sector. Also at ORGATEC, in Cologne, world-renowned architectural stars will present their ideas on modern buildings, make innovative presentations and talk about new materials and new techniques for construction, including the creation of professional real estate and offices. ORGATEC’s presentation of a high-quality offer is also complemented by a congress with a demanding and very current theme: “the best integration of architecture in the study and planning of professional real estate and hotel properties”.

Second theme ORGATEC 2018: more oriented towards progress and its emotional charge is greater. Coworking, New Work, Work 4.0, sustainable materials, the “war of talent” or the smart home are some of the megatrends of our professional and life worlds, which will be presented in this 2018 edition. Ms. Katharina C Hamma explained, “Can an important business platform like ORGATEC carry an emotional charge and polarize? I say that not only can it but it must do it. Because an international reference fair should inspire professional visitors, adopt new and controversial approaches and take an active part in the debate within the industry. ORGATEC has always proved that it can do this precisely.” This theme will be illustrated at the heart of hall 10.01 with a plant 10.1 event platform. “In partnership with consulting firm Detécon, the creative agency Orange Council and international artists, we will design an area that is emotionally charged. and also provocative, will dramatically offer a new living and creative approach to the office as a living and working space “.
Seven scenarios invite you to question traditional ideas and to think about new and futureoriented forms of work, as well as the notion of work space by activity: “activity based working”. Artists participating in the project are asked to be inspired in an unusual way by the theme of this year’s “culture @ work”. Their task is to go to the limits of corporate culture and innovation, or even to go beyond it. In doing so, we ask professional visitors to reconsider their views – work environments, workstation design or collaboration forms.

Decidedly Orgatec 2018 does not stop innovating, with event areas: “Smart Office & Conferencing Technology” will not only present “high tech” products but will be presented under real-world conditions and can be tested in real-life situations. Similarly for those interested in new materials and their fields of application with the areas “Cultural Materials” and “Materials Pavillion”.

Some numbers An increase of 8% of the exhibition area compared to the previous edition: ORGATEC 2018 will exceed 140000m2, 65% of this area will be occupied by foreign companies: 5% increase (409 foreign companies from 37 countries) . Nine collective participations of companies from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan and Italy (three for this country), are expected in Cologne – there will be one more than in 2016. 554 companies altogether have, 6 months of the opening, already confirmed their participation. Their number has increased by 6% compared to the same period of 2016. ORGATEC 2018, from 23 to 27 October in Cologne (Germany), a fair that will reflect on the digital transformation: work can be done anywhere and anytime. The office of the future can be everywhere – even in the head. The future belongs to “knowledge workers” who are flexible and perform their tasks creatively and on their own initiative – and a culture of work based more than ever on partnership cooperation, motivation and trust. How to conceive the cooperation of individualists? NPLM These are the questions for which ORGATEC 2018 will present “tools” to try to bring the right answers Likewise for Ergonoma Journal, which has been constantly, for more than 13 years, dealing with the different themes and questions addressed by ORGATEC. In synergy with ORGATEC’s approach, we will update the information as the presentations progress through cases studies presented by the exhibitors of the 2018 edition of theshow on the website.
